i really like the simplicity of the shot. it has a very minimalist quality that just allows the subject just to be. i like the way you captured the shot with the glares of light off the jar being the way they are without blinding the butterfly from the camera. also, i like the shallow depth of field that allows the viewer to concentrate entirely on the subject. black and white was a nice choice that allows the elegance of the whole photograph to unfold. you did an excellent job with this one.

Nice job, always felt bad for the butterflies that were in jars or behind glass stuck up there with pins.

Yeah I feel bad for those too...this one was found dead and then preserved, so I'm assuming it died of natural causes. Thank you :)

true! I think a lot of them are sensitive to the temperature outside and any sudden drops or increases are detrimental to the population.

It's sad how fragile they are, but just a way of life.

Butterflies have a very short life span so it's sad to see one die before it reaches mature state.

Very nice picture ;)

Unfortunately it's something we see often where I live. Our temperature drops so quickly and unexpectedly that delicate wildlife doesn't stand a chance.

And thank you :D
